Tom Kroeger

Tom Kroeger is a partner in Howard & O’Brien Executive Search. Tom has over 15 years of senior executive experience serving as the chief human resources officer for three major industry-leading public companies: The Sherwin-Williams Company, Office Depot, and Invacare Corporation. In each of these positions, Tom was an officer of the corporation and a member of the executive committee. He has extensive firsthand experience working with CEOs and boards of directors on the identification, assessment, selection, and development of management talent at the most senior levels, in all functions, and across a broad range of businesses. The majority of Tom’s time is spent on senior executive and board-level search assignments and assisting clients with a variety of succession planning and talent management issues.


In addition to his successful professional career, Tom is on the board of directors and chairs the Compensation Committee of ACCO Brands, a multi-billion dollar public company that is a leader in the design, manufacture, and sales of branded office products. Tom also serves on the board of directors of Precision Dialogue, a privately held marketing services firm, and is a member of the Operating Advisory Council of Kirtland Capital Partners, a mid-market private equity firm. Tom is active in professional, civic, and community organizations, including the Urban League, Inroads, and Students in Free Enterprise. He is a past member of the Board of Regents for Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. In November 2012, Tom was installed into The Order of Malta, through which he participates in regular service and philanthropic activities to aid the sick and poor both locally and globally. Tom’s educational background includes an MS in management from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a BA in psychology from Cleveland State University.
